People’s Choir Exeter
Ella ran a public choir course, People's Choir, in Exeter over Spring term '15. The course was open to people of mixed ability with singing and music, with no need to understand music notation. In just one term this group of singers went from being inexperienced and unconfident to developing their abilities and finding their voices within a group that can hold three part harmonies and enjoying the process. Well done People’s Choir Exeter!
Big Noise Chorus Plymouth
Ella took the role of conductor for Big Noise Chorus Plymouth in for the spring term ’15. Ella was thrilled to have the opportunity to work with this 70 people strong choir.
Ella’s primary interest is to help her students realise their individual goals within their vocal practice. This may be preparation for an exam or music course, or for personal development. Ella teaches a skill set that with dedication provides a student with the tools needed to develop confidence in their ability to use their voice both professionally and for pleasure, whether it be for performance, recording or in a broader context.
Most important to her teaching practice is to create an encouraging and supportive environment in which students feel comfortable to learn and develop.
Ella teaches good technique relevant to all musical genres. Her specialist music genres include: jazz, folk, soul, pop and musical theatre.
Ella has been running one-day vocal workshops in Cornwall and Devon since 2007. She ran a public choir in Totnes, Devon from Feb ’08-Oct ’08, which culminated in a series of performances at Sidmouth Folk Festival. She has composed and arranged for various choirs and vocal groups since 2003.
She has performed with various groups in recent years and as a solo artist accompanying herself on guitar and loop station. Ella is currently the vocalist in Pigshed, an 8-piece Funk/Afrobeat/Latin band based in South West Cornwall, for which she has written original material.
Ella is based in Cornwall, teaching throughout Cornwall, Devon and surrounding areas, delivering one-to-one lessons and group vocal workshops throughout the whole of the South West.
